Lever Running System Review

Tested by: Melissa Abbey - Physiotherapist & Endurance Athlete

Quick Summary:

The Lever running system is designed to reduce bodyweight while running, allowing impact to be controlled without changing the natural running pattern. As a physiotherapist and endurance athlete, I used it personally during injury rehab and found it very helpful for maintaining running fitness while managing load. It provides a useful option when full running isn’t yet tolerated but complete rest isn’t ideal.

What we liked:

- Allows accurate control of bodyweight and impact

- Keeps a natural running gait compared to other low-impact options

- Useful for maintaining fitness during injury rehab

- Easy to adjust support levels as symptoms improve

- Helps bridge the gap between no running and full running

What to consider:

- Should be used as part of a structured rehab plan, not as a shortcut

- Can feel slightly different at first compared to normal running

- Access to the system may be limited depending on facilities available

Who it’s for:

- Runners returning from injury

- Endurance athletes managing high training loads

- Athletes who need to reduce impact but still want to run

- Anyone progressing back to full training after time off

When to use it:

- During return-to-run rehab

- When normal running still causes symptoms

- To build volume gradually without excessive impact

- As part of a controlled progression back to full training

Final thoughts:

From a physiotherapy perspective, having the ability to control load while keeping a normal running pattern is extremely valuable during rehab. Using the Lever system myself allowed me to stay consistent with training while recovering, which is often the biggest challenge for endurance athletes. It’s a very useful tool for anyone looking for a smarter way to manage impact while continuing to run.
