The Role
This is a flexible role, and we are open to shaping the position around the right person's experience and strengths. The core role will involve working on the shop floor, looking after customers, sales and merchandising. For someone with the right experience and commercial mindset, there is also the opportunity to take responsibility for purchasing, inventory planning and wider operational tasks.
We are looking for a motivated, knowledgeable and customer-focused person to join our specialist triathlon store. The ideal candidate will be confident engaging with athletes, providing knowledgeable product guidance and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop. The most important thing is that you are genuinely comfortable working with athletes and customers and have a real interest in triathlon and endurance sport. You should be energetic, approachable and confident enough to provide knowledgeable product advice rather than simply process sales.
Because we are a small business, we also need someone who is happy to be hands-on and support the wider team. For the right person, there is an opportunity to take on considerably more responsibility across purchasing, inventory and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Retail & Customer Experience
• Deliver an exceptional in-store customer experience
• Advise customers on wetsuits, tri suits, cycling gear, nutrition and other products relevant to triathlon and endurance sport
• Provide knowledgeable product guidance and help customers select the right products
• Process sales and manage POS transactions
• Build strong relationships with customers and contribute to the Sported.ae community
Shop Management & Merchandising
• Maintain high visual merchandising standards and ensure the shop is well presented
• Help organise the shop floor and product displays
• Assist with stock management and ensure products are available and correctly presented
• Support online order fulfillment
• Contribute to community engagement and in-store initiatives
• Help ensure the shop operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis
Purchasing, Inventory & Operations – depending on experience
• Monitor stock levels and sales to identify upcoming purchasing requirements
• Determine what products need to be reordered, in what quantities and when
• Place purchase orders with suppliers and follow up on availability and delivery
• Liaise with suppliers regarding products, pricing and orders
• Manage and coordinate stock replenishment
• Support wider fulfillment and operational administration
• Take ownership of procurement and inventory planning where appropriate
Requirements
• Genuine affinity with triathlon and endurance sport
• Personal participation in swimming, cycling, running or triathlon is preferred
• Previous retail or customer service experience
• Strong product knowledge and genuine interest in helping customers find the right equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Energetic, proactive and team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Experience with POS systems
• Experience with simple website management would be an advantage
• Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends
Previous purchasing, procurement, inventory or stock-management experience is an advantage for candidates interested in the broader version of the role, but is not essential for the core retail position.
