Sported Coaching Triathlon Camp Wrap

The Oceanic Resort and Spa in Khorfakkan was the venue for the 2 day Sported Coaching Triathlon camp. Blessed with near perfect weather camp activities started on Friday evening with an easy open water swim to practice drafting and sighting techniques. This was followed by a short run on the corniche with a typical TriSutto run of 30 seconds fast/30 seconds easy to practice fast leg turnover and good run form.

Saturday was an early start with swim technique assessment in the pool practicing short intervals of 25 and 50m to maintain good swim strokes.

There was a quick turnaround to head out on the bikes.

To promote leg strength for cycling the group did 15 minute repetitions as far as the dam routing back to the hotel via the scenic corniche route.

On Saturday afternoon there was demonstration of the skills required to be fast in T1 and T2; running with the bike and leaving shoes clipped to the pedals for a speeding dismount to T2.

Finally, the day was complete with another TriSutto running favorite: Hill reps. We use short hill reps to build leg strength (10 x 30 secs hill sprints / jog back followed by 5 mins at race pace). Tough set running in the setting sun on tired legs.

Sunday commenced with short sharp bricks (bike/ run/ bike/ run/ bike /run) practicing those fast transitions. It was full gas all the way and the team worked really hard!  This was followed by a long sea swim to recover from the intensity of the bricks and enjoy the perfect water temperature.

Mixed in between the practical sessions was introductions to the TriSutto coaching methodologies, nutrition for both training and racing and training session planning.

A great group to work with. New friendships made.
