Blue70 Lift Shorts Review - The Closest Thing to a "Wearable Pull Buoy"
I’ve been using the Blue70 Lift Shorts throughout my triathlon journey for over 10 years - from the original Core shorts to the latest version inspired by the Helix wetsuit.
In Dubai, they are also one of the most practical swim tools you can own. With warm water conditions for much of the year, they offer a great year-round alternative to a full wetsuit and are a far more economical option while still delivering many of the same body position benefits.

The newest version takes things up another level.
The addition of enhanced buoyant LIFT panels on the front of the legs creates what is probably the best "wearable pull buoy" currently available. The shorts lift the hips and legs into a more natural swimming position - similar to what you would experience in a full wetsuit.
For many age-group athletes, maintaining good body position in the water is one of the biggest challenges. These shorts help reduce that struggle and allow you to focus on building swim volume and technique.
Sometimes referred to as "cheat shorts", there is nothing artificial about their benefit. Much like using a pull buoy in training, they simply support better alignment and efficiency in the water.
The updated waistband is another noticeable improvement, sitting slightly higher on the hips and giving a more secure and comfortable fit.
Who are they for?
- Triathletes building swim fitness
- Athletes returning from injury
- Anyone struggling with body position in the water
- Open water swimmers looking for a wetsuit-like feel without a wetsuit
When to use them
- Pool sessions (especially technique work)
- Open water training
- High-volume swim blocks
Final thoughts
If you’re looking to improve your swim efficiency and confidence in the water, the Blue70 Lift Shorts are one of the most effective tools you can add to your training.
