The Al Mugheira Sports Event on February 21st is set to be an unforgettable day, bringing together two dynamic sports — cycling and swimming — against the breathtaking backdrop of one of the region’s most stunning locations.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the 16th edition of the Al Dhafra Maritime Festival is set to take place from 14-23 February 2025 on the coast of Al Mugheirah, Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the festival is dedicated to celebrating the UAE’s maritime heritage, reinforcing national identity, and safeguarding Emirati cultural traditions. It aims to engage both local communities and tourists by showcasing the customs and traditions associated with the sea through a dynamic series of traditional maritime and beach competitions, alongside entertaining, educational, and heritage-inspired activities.

The cycling segment will offer participants two options: a 40km route for those seeking a more challenging ride, and a 20km course for those preferring a shorter distance. Both courses will wind through the picturesque landscape, allowing cyclists to enjoy the scenic beauty of Al Mugheira while pushing themselves to their limits.

Prize money will be awarded to the top finishers in the 40km cycling race, with the Non-Emirati categories receiving:

• 1st Place: AED3,000
• 2nd Place: AED2,000
• 3rd Place: AED1,000

For Emirati participants in the 40km race, the prize breakdwon is:

• 1st Place: AED2,000
• 2nd Place: AED1,500
• 3rd Place: AED1,000
