Aero Tested! The Rudy Project WingDream Aero Helmet

More details

"The world of helmet development is similar to Formula One: it requires engineering creativity, 3D studies, prototypes, wind tunnel tests, and athlete testing. There is a lot of research behind a product like this, which is subjected to continuous verification by the UCI and certification bodies. And, of course, there are significant economic investments. Many models currently available on the market do not feature holes. Both Wing and Wingdream, however, have central holes to ventilate the cranial cap area. Our challenge was precisely to create a helmet that allowed good aerodynamic savings, but at the same time was also comfortable. Managing head temperature is crucial: cyclists push at speeds over 45 km/h for 40 minutes during a time trial, triathletes even longer. The advantages of aerodynamic penetration are quickly nullified if there is excessive head heating."

AERODYNAMIC BENEFITS

The result of two years of development and numerous indoor and outdoor tests, the Wingdream takes the studies of aerodynamics applied to cycling helmets to a new level, improving the management of turbulence at the athlete's back, as well as its air penetration coefficient. Wingdream's unique shape directs the airflow towards the athlete's shoulders, enhancing your aerodynamics.

Wind tunnel tests results show a massive energy savings of almost 10 watts which translates to about four seconds saved every 10 kilometers!

MASSIVE VENTILATION

Wingdream's scientific combination of helmet geometry and a strategically positioned air port promote an accelerated internal ventilation process to cool the riders head while enhancing the sweat evaporation process.

I recently upgraded from the Rudy Project Wing helmet to the new Rudy Project Wingdream.

The new WingDream has a far longer tail in comparison to the Wing. This allows you to achieve a more aero dynamic position.
The helmet is a lot more breathable with a wider front visor and gives way more visibility. Was really comfortable over a 90k race and would race it over all distances.
Awesome helmet which once your in aero position makes you feel faster which is all that really counts 😀

Thanks Jamie, fab comments, glad you like the Wing Dream and no doubt you look like one of the pros now!
